Hayward’s Main Street is covered in lights of all colors.  Synchronized to Music the lights dance up and down the first block.  Two Shows Friday and Saturday Nights  6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  (no show on Dec. 14th)




Nov. 29, Friday  starting at 6:00 P.M.

Kidns, Parents, Grandparents, Relatives and Neighbors get together to watch the many,   many entries to the parade.  Be fascinated by the lights, themes and designs.


Located on 2nd St, just off main.  A fun backdrop to pose in front of and take photos of your family to send to friends, relatives even post on Facebook, Twitter or whatever you would like.  Have fun creating your special Greeting.

December 6th and December 7th.

Friday and Saturday evening, groups will give their all to earn your vote to be the Best Carolers for 2013.  You can vote by putting money in their donation buckets.  Winner is determined by the most they have collected.  These are all charitable or community groups and the monies earned go to their special projects.  Be a part of the fun, enjoy the music and donate to help.


Friday, Dec. 13th

5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

A hit with the crowds for the past two years, is the Hot Chocolate Crawl.  Featuring nearly a dozen locations, easily walked to, you can enjoy a sample of a special Hot Chocolate Recipe.  Participate in the voting by selecting your three most favorite.  Be ready to smack you lips to the extra goodies that are often served as well.  A great time to wonder and meet friends while enjoying the crawl.


Friday, Dec 13th

5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

snow shovel decoratingParticipate as well as view the Snow Shovels decorated by individuals, organizations and business’s.

You are invited to join in the fun with your creativity.  Simply request an entry form from the Hayward Chamber of Commerce and then unleash your creativity on a Snow Shovel.  Category entries are: Ages 12 and Under, Ages 13 to 17, Ages 18 and Older, Business and/or Organization.

Shovels are displayed the evening of December 13th on 2nd Street.  Winners will be announced when scores are tallied.

You will never look at a snow shovel the same again.


December 14, Saturday

Parade starts at 6:00 P.M.

Second annual parade. Light your Engines made an huge impact last year with Snow IMG_4884dnGroomers, Snowmobiles, ATV’s, Bobcats …. Anything with an engine.  Groups got their creativity caps on and gave a thrill to the crowd of spectators watching as they went down Mainstreet turned east on 2nd Street and ended at Shue’s Pond.  The Snowmobile Alliance Group hosted a hot dog and hot chocolate give away near the Gazebo at Shue’s Pond.  Kids will Love this event.

This year, the entries will end the parade by lining up around Shue’s Pond so the kids can look at them and judge for yourself which one you like the best.



December 20th

Friday starting at 5:30 P.M. on 2nd St.

A surprise event last year with Greeting Cards created on 2′ x 4′ sheets of plywood.  The IMG_4892dn-fbartists came out with very special ideas ranging from sentimental to funny.  Plan to stop by and view these very special Greetings.

Saturday, December 21st

6:00 P.M. Registration  -  7:15 P.M.  Runway Show on 2nd St.

You be the Judge.  Can you create the most Tacky Sweater for Christmas.  We’ve all seen them, some of us have worn them, don’t be SHY you can show off the best of the worst.  Judging will be done by a panel of people with no taste in fashion.  Look in your closets, check out thrift stores (remember donations to these stores are very helpful this time of year) and get CREATIVE.
